York Street

Despite being found in the saddest of structural states, YORK's charm and beauty, though well camouflaged by 1950's fake walls and ceilings, complimented by layers of linoleum upon more linoleum, screamed out to my creative sensibilities and instincts. Once exposed, YORK's pre-confederation lines, post and beam construction, and overall presence, revealed a magnificent poetic energy that inspired us all.

Philosophy

Saving older and forgotten houses, resurrecting them using contemporary eco/green sensible technologies, and maintaining existing structural and carbon footprints, is radically attractive. These older homes are like old friends full of history, poetry and adventure.

Casa Blah Blah Blah

Before purchasing CASA BLAH I knew I wanted to create a more urban-like compound, inspired by pre-industrial revolution design principles, utilizing existing structures. This vision was inspired by the 16th century colonial compounds I visited in Mexico's San Miguel de Allende.

Nancy and Rob's wonderful home is a stunning example of how one can take a forgotten house from 1890 and lovingly transform it into a breathtaking contemporary home. Jane Street is a glorious example of the ALIROCKS philosophy.

South Bay Haven

This property had been a farm, featuring abandoned fields, and buildings that had remained untouched for several decades. Once completed, the place had been radically transformed. The barn became a gallery, the main house was redesigned to include a large cantilevered master bedroom/studio with epic views of the water and the small barn beside the main house was transformed into a guest house with an upper loft bedroom, also featuring wonderful lake views. Moreover, the collapsed sheds at the waterfront were turned into a beach house and the abandoned fields were converted into an organic vineyard. When it sold it was the
